This past Thursday, many folks braved a cool rainy day to come out and see the new things going on as Phase 1 of the Norton Audubon Hospital expansion opened to the public.
In the morning, the Norton Audubon Family gathered in a tent outside the new emergency entrance. Jon Cooper made some nice opening remarks and then tours began. "Cor Liberum" was one of the stops on the tour. It was great to share the concept and meaning of all of the elements contained in the sculptural experience.

In the afternoon, there was another section of the open house. This was for the public and media. The opening program was quite a bit more involved. However, Jon made some really nice remarks about the sculpture and I received a nice round of applause. Then the tours began again. I was again able to share all of the meaning of the components of the sculpture to a larger audience. I was also interviewed by one of the local news channels, WLKY did a short interview with me that made it on the news. One of the other channels, WDRB also had a nice shot of the sculpture that made it on the news.
Most important to me, I was able to have some of my family in for the open house. My brothers Kevin and Larry brought my mom down from Chicago for the celebration. They got to stand in the rain with me while we waited for tour groups to show up. (However, they disappeared under the covered area when the tours were there so they didn't get as wet!) All in all, even though the weather didn't cooperate, it was still a very fun day sharing the all the meanings and significance of "Cor Liberum".
